Pujo Asche

My mum told me when I was one year old; I saw Kolkatar Durga pujo on my dadu’s lap. I cannot remember anything now. But dad and mum told me that Durga pujo is Bengalis’ biggest and the best festival. It happens once a year in autumn and started by Lord Ram long time ago. I have only seen pujo on internet. I am very excited now because this year it will happen on our doorstep. This is our pujo! I will be taking part – I cannot believe it!

I will wear new clothes and bring my baby brother. Do you know he will also be nearly 1 yr old! I know ma Durga also has four kids. I will give anjali and play with my friends. I am not sure whether mum will allow me to help my dad in pujo. I would like to perform in cultural programmes there.

Didu told me pujo helps to make friendship and social bonding. Dad says this is our heritage and culture. Mum talks about our prayers to Ma Durga. But I know it will be lots and lots of fun......
