Brief Biography and
Thoughts on BCAP
Consultant Anaesthetist by
profession, humility is thy middle name.
Dr. Mandal was born in the village
of Rampur, Bankura district, West Bengal, India. He spent his childhood
there upto the age of 14. Then he moved to a boarding school. At the age
of 18 he joined R G Kar Medical College, Calcutta and completed his MBBS
degree in 1987. For his postgraduate training and qualification he then
moved to AIIMS, New Delhi where he spent 6 years before moving to the UK in 1995. After another 6 years of
training in UK, he was appointed as a consultant anaesthetist in Peterborough Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2001.
He is married and father to 2 bright children, a son and a daughter.
He has been an active member of BCAP since 2001. He states "For me, BCAP is like my family. This is a forum where we exchange our ideas and share our good times. This is a forum where we keep our cultural and religious heritage alive. This is a forum which helps our children to learn Bengal’s tradition and language. It is a forum through which we support each other.
With the arrival of new members, the BCAP has grown considerably in last 7 years. With this growth, the new members have brought new ideas too. This is a
strength of BCAP. Although we have diversity among the members but surprisingly our actions are united. This is why; it is really an enjoyable as well as useful experience to be a part of it."
He cordially invites and welcomes all interested parties to join the Bengali Cultural Association, Peterborough.
